A Sweet & Magical Weekend: Wrapping Up "Christmas Confections"

  • Thank you for a truly sweet treat! 'Christmas Confections' was a heartwarming holiday concert filled with festive cheer and musical delights. Loveland Choral Society served up a joyful mix of classic carols and seasonal favorites, sprinkled with sweet surprises from our lifted voices and the live orchestra. It was a magical musical treat that warmed hearts and brightened the season!

A Sweet Success for LCS

It’s Monday morning, the set is struck, the music is filed away, and the Rialto stage is quiet. Yet, here at the Loveland Choral Society, we are still absolutely buzzing from the weekend.

We want to start this week with profound gratitude. The curtain has closed on our 2025 holiday concert, "Christmas Confections: Sweet Sounds of the Season," and thanks to you, it was a resounding success.

We are thrilled to announce that over the course of four performances, we welcomed over 1,200 combined attendees through the doors of the Rialto Theater Center!

Seeing the theater packed with friends, neighbors, and families confirmed something we deeply believe: shared live music is an essential, vibrant part of Loveland’s holiday traditions. Gathering in the heart of our downtown to experience the sounds of the season together is magic, pure and simple.

A Musical Journey

This year’s program was truly a journey designed to touch every part of the holiday experience.

We began the first half rooted in reverence, honoring the sacred traditions that form the foundation of Christmas. It was powerful to fill the hall with beloved, traditional hymns like "The First Noel," "Angels We Have Heard on High," and "O Come All Ye Faithful." A distinct highlight for the choir was sharing the rhythmic, joyful energy of the Nigerian Christmas song "Betelehemu."

Holiday Music Makes Our Hearts Soar

After intermission, we loosened our ties and shifted to the contemporary favorites that make the season feel cozy and fun. We loved seeing audience members humming along to classics like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."

We also took a fun musical detour featuring three songs from the contemporary composer known as PinkZebra. From a jazzy rendition of "The Waltz of the Sugar Plum Fairy" to the upbeat "A Very Merry Christmas," these pieces brought a fresh energy to the stage.

Heartwarming Moments

Perhaps the most poignant moment was PinkZebra’s "I’ll Know It’s Christmas." The song is a beautiful reminder that no matter what ups and downs the year or the holidays bring, there is a resilient, powerful spirit of Christmas capable of warming our hearts.

The feedback we've received has been truly heartwarming. A few attendees sent us messages and notes letting us know what attending the concert meant to them. One patron noted "What an amazing concert!! You all learned so much music and the results were incredibly wonderful for us concert goers!! I loved the selections of music and the very professional performance!!" Another commented "Thank you for such an amazing experience yet again!"

Special Songs

One of our favorite elements of this concert was bringing the music closer to you.

We featured two talented small groups who stepped off the stage and onto the concert hall floor to perform four special numbers. Whether it was the fun swing of "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" or the hushed awe of "O Holy Night," having those moments happen right in the midst of the audience created an intimate connection we won't soon forget.

A Symphony of Gratitude

A production of this scale is a massive undertaking that goes far beyond the singers you see on stage.

We must give a massive, resounding shout-out to our incredible live orchestra. There is a unique power in having a fantastic, community-sourced orchestra accompanying a choir. The swell of strings and the brilliance of brass elevated every single number and brought the score to life.

We also owe a debt of gratitude to:

  • Our Technicians & Crew: For making the lights sparkle and the sound crystal clear.

  • Our Volunteers: For the behind the scenes work that is required to make events like this happen.

  • Our Sponsors & Donors: For providing the vital financial foundation that makes high-quality local arts possible.
