Next Opportunity to Join

Loveland Choral Society invites you to audition for our upcoming spring show, An American Songbook.

Auditions are January 10th + 11th 2026

This show will offer a significant number of solo and small group opportunities and will be a musical anniversary celebration of what is beautiful and unique about our commonwealths—recognizing 250 years as a nation and 150 years as the State of Colorado.

Together, we'll unite behind the themes of traveling across our gorgeous landscapes, delve into the perseverance and hopefulness that has birthed some of our most powerful musical genres like the blues and jazz, highlight our iconic worlds of Broadway and Hollywood, and dip our toes into some other silly Americanisms like Disney and sports-cultures, as well as have a little fun in a roulette karaoke showcase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Join?
New members are invited to join at the start of each concert cycle: in August for the fall concert, in October for the Christmas concert, and in January for the spring production. For the Fall and Christmas shows, there is no formal audition. To join - send us an email at lovelandchoralsociety@gmail.com or fill out the form on our Contact Page at least one week before the first rehearsal so that we know to prepare a music folder for you, and then come to the first rehearsal and check in at the entrance up to 30 minutes prior to our start time of 7pm. Formal auditions are held in January for the spring production, sign up for our mailing list to be notified when audition sign ups are available.
How Much Experience Do I Need?
Membership is open to interested singers, 16 years of age and above, who possess basic vocal skills necessary to learn and perform multi-part choral music. Members are to show kindness, respect, and courtesy to fellow members, recognizing each to be a unique individual with differing talents and abilities.
Is An Audition Required?
For our Fall and Christmas productions no auditions are held, we do have a quick voice evaluation with our director at one of the early rehearsals to be sure of your vocal range and place you in the appropriate section. Auditions for the Spring production are held in early January. You will prepare 32 measures of a song of your choice, we will ask that you bring sheet music or an accompaniment track (no acapella auditions) and fill out an informational sheet regarding your past performance experience.
When and Where Does LCS Rehearse?
Regular rehearsals are Mondays beginning at 7:00 PM and ending at 9:30 PM and are currently held at 1445 W 28th St, Loveland, CO 80538. Sectionals will be scheduled during the fall and Christmas concert series. During tech/production week prior to concerts, expect mandatory rehearsals every evening.
What is the Attendance Policy?
LCS members are dedicated singers and are expected to attend all regularly weekly rehearsals. Attendance at extra practices is strongly encouraged but not mandatory. All singers must inform their section leaders of any absence. Excessive absenteeism can result in non-participation in the concerts. The final decision will be made by the section leader and the artistic director. Attendance at a sectional rehearsal may make up for missing a regular rehearsal. Expect that tech/production week and dress rehearsals are mandatory.
What is the Cost of Membership?
Members pay dues for each show in which they participate ($45 per show). Dues must be paid by the membership cut-off date for the concert, generally the third rehearsal. These dues do not cover the cost of the music. Rather, they are collected to help defray LCS expenses for the performance royalties, accompaniment, administration, music storage, etc. Dues are non-refundable after the membership cut-off date.
I'm Interested in LCS but not 100% Sure, Do I Need to Commit?
The cut off date to pay dues and 'commit' for a concert is the third rehearsal. We welcome you to attend the first rehearsal to see if it feels like a good fit!
