2011-12 Concert Season: Bridging the Gap -- A Harmonious Interlude

Cliff photoAs I take the podium for my twenty-first season as artistic and musical director of Loveland Choral Society, I reflect on the sheer joy, pure satisfaction and lasting memories this incredible experience has provided.

It has been my unending quest for LCS to offer the absolute best in creative choral and musical programs. Whether mastering Mozart, rockin’ or rolling through the decades, touring musical history, exploring songs of America or discovering new worlds of music, when meeting composers, making musical memories, immersing in movie melodies, belting Broadway blockbusters, touching your musical soul, or simply making music and you laugh, the purpose of LCS remains the same: to entertain, educate, and engage our audiences.

I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to lead our talented and dedicated singers and share
the incredible gift of music. LCS is honored to be recognized as a virtual voice and vital instrument
of the Loveland performing arts culture. I applaud this remarkable community, our generous
patrons and devoted audiences for your amazing support. On behalf of LCS, I look forward
to inspiring you to new musical heights and invite you to join us as I raise the baton on our
exceptional 2011-12 concert season.

Cliff Schultz, Artistic Director

Bridge: (as in music) - “a contrasting musical section that connects two parts of a
song and prepares the listener for the triumphant return of the original material.”

Bridge: (as in Rialto) - “a stunning new addition to a historic theater in downtown
Loveland sure to dazzle the community and delight many talented performers.”

Bridging The Gap
THAT’S JUST WHAT LOVELAND CHORAL SOCIETY will do in 2011-12. While we anxiously await the completion of the beautiful new Rialto Bridge, LCS helps bridge the gap by keeping our audiences connected to the absolute best in musical entertainment. In order to accommodate our sizable choruses and instrumentalists, LCS will perform our Fall and Christmas concerts at Mountain
View High School in Loveland. We are grateful to secure this alternate venue for our remaining
2011 concerts and are eager to bring you another exciting season. And, like the musical bridge,
LCS anxiously anticipates connecting back to the fabulous and newly-remodeled Rialto in the
spring of 2012.

LCS is busy constructing an outstanding season in 2011-12 with a trio of terrific concerts:

BY GEORGE!...A Gerswhin Celebration (October 14.15.16, 2011)

Concert Artist and pianist extraordinaire Doug Montgomery joins LCS and the
Mountain View High voices for a Gershwin gala. Start with magical melodies
and fascinating rhythms from Lady Be Good, Girl Crazy, Funny Face and
Crazy For You. Add timeless tunes impeccably played by maestro Montgomery,
highlighted by his dazzling interpretation of Rhapsody In Blue. Complete your
Gershwin fest with thrilling selections from Porgy and Bess for an unforgettable
musical experience.

Images of Christmas (December 16.17.18, 2011)

The festive LCS voices, Mountain View High choirs and the sumptuous sound of
the Holiday Orchestra combine with inspirational imagery to bring you Loveland’s
premiere holiday musical event. Celebrate the glorious message of Christmas
with beloved choruses from Handel’s Messiah, and music from L’Enfance Du
Christ by Berlioz. Enjoy beautiful traditional and contemporary carols, plus
nostalgic favorites from Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.

Classic Broadway (April 27-May 6, 2012)

Broadway lovers will rejoice when LCS returns to the Rialto and energizes the
stage with show-stoppers from The King and I, Carousel, The Unsinkable Molly
Brown, Oklahoma, The Music Man and more. Get ready to give your highest
regards to Broadway with a center stage seat for this sensational LCS production!
